Sophy Layzell
I'm Sophy Layzell, an author born in Laos, brought up in Gloucestershire and now living in Somerset. I was lucky to have had a childhood full of wonderful stories. Adventures created for me by my father were the best way to start the weekend, and Tintin read aloud by my brother (with accents) were a highlight of my youth. Without stories, I would have had no sense of place, history and no dreams from which they could grow.
As well as writing I run drama workshops, for ages 6-16 in Chard and Taunton. I also set up for the Jemima Layzell Trust, which helps children with Acquired Brain Injury and campaigns for organ transplant awareness. On Fridays you can also find me doing admin for our family firm J Layzell & Sons, now in their 125th year.
